Selling your home is quite the process, no matter the season. With winter almost here, many people are wondering if they should wait, or continue with their home selling plans!
Winter gets a bad reputation for being a bad time to sell your home, when in fact, winter is a great time to sell your home! In some respects, yes, the snow (if applicable to your area!) can be a deterrent at times- however, this is nothing that an understanding reschedule can’t fix! Weather happens, and if anything, it shows that both parties are responsible, respectful, and safe!
Below are three tips to ensure your journey of selling your home goes smoothly!
Tidy up
As with any season, keeping a tidy home is a must! Winter weather can mean your shoes trail in the snow, sleet, mud, and salt. A good mop and scrub, as well as a vacuum of any rugs, is sure to leave your home sparkling! Make sure trash and recycling is taken out, and dirty dishes are clean or in the dishwasher!
A good cleaning with a few spots getting some extra attention is a great way to make your home ready to sell!
Cozy Without Clutter
A great way to help potential buyers envision themselves in your home is to provide a cozy (yet clutter-free!) atmosphere. This means warm lighting, and some throw blankets arranged on couches.
A great way to make people feel invited and welcome is to have a designated mat for them to keep their shoes on and offer warm drinks such as: tea, coffee, hot cocoa, and warm cider!
Tip: If you won’t be in your home and don’t want to leave a diffuser running or candles lit, try a simmer pot! Fill a pot with water, and toss in seasonal fruits and spices (such as oranges, apples, cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, and star anise). Simmer it until you leave (don’t forget to turn off the stove!), and your house will be filled with warm, cozy scents. An added bonus is that these can be used for a few days in a row!
